Trackbacks and pingbacks are an excellent way to build links to your blog which may in turn drive some traffic, as well as building relationships with other bloggers.

When you send a trackback, a short excerpt of your entry will appear on the referenced website with a link to your blog.

WordPress’ Built In Ping Feature..
on each post you make there is a box towards the bottom of the page that says Trackbacks, you need to just enter the URL of the blog page.

Once you’ve added all the URLs you want to trackback, the moment you hit the Publish button, the blog(s) will be notified.
Pingbacks allow you to notify a weblog of your entry just by posting its permalink directly in the content of your blog entry. No special trackback link necessary.
